Your story is the most personal thing you have. This policy explains what we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have. Plain language first, details below.
The short version. Your story lives in a private vault, tied to your account. We use trusted AI and print vendors to turn it into your book. We never sell your story, and we never put your story content into marketing or advertising. Audio from voice input is transcribed and then discarded. You can delete your data at any time.
1. Who We Are
Rewrite Your Story (“we,” “us”) operates the website at rewriteyourstory.ai and the memoir-writing application. Contact: support@rewriteyourstory.ai.
2. What We Collect
- Account information — your email address and a password (passwords are handled by our authentication provider; we never see them in plain text).
- Your story content — the answers you type or speak during your journey, and the manuscript generated from them.
- Voice input — if you use the microphone, your audio is sent for transcription and then discarded; we do not store the audio. Only the text transcript is kept, as part of your story.
- Purchase and shipping information — processed by our payment and print vendors. We do not store full card numbers. If you order a printed book, your shipping address is used to fulfill and mail it.
- Basic technical data — standard logs (e.g., request times, error data) needed to run and secure the Service.
3. How We Use It
- To provide the Service: ask you questions, generate your book, and let you review, revise, and read it.
- To produce and ship printed copies you order.
- To send you account and transactional email (sign-in, receipts, order and shipping updates, password recovery).
- To keep the Service secure and to comply with law.
4. What We Do NOT Do
- We do not sell your personal information or your story.
- We do not use your story content for advertising or place it into any marketing or CRM system. Our marketing tools receive only your email address and non-content lifecycle events (for example: “signed up,” “completed the journey,” “purchased,” “book shipped”) — never what you shared.
- We do not use your story to train our own advertising profiles.
5. Service Providers We Share With
We rely on trusted vendors to operate. Each receives only what it needs:
- AI providers (Anthropic; OpenAI) — portions of your conversation and manuscript are sent to generate your book, cover art, and to transcribe voice. These providers process the data to return a result and do not use it to train their public models under their business terms.
- Hosting & database (our cloud host; Supabase) — store your account and your vault. The vault has row-level security and no public read access.
- Payments (Stripe) — processes your purchase; handles your card data directly under its own privacy policy.
- Print & shipping (Lulu) — receives your finished book files and shipping address only when you order a printed copy.
- Email & CRM — receives your email address and lifecycle events only, to send account email and updates. Never your story content.
We do not permit these providers to use your story content for their own purposes.
6. Identity Protection in Your Book
The Service is designed so that the names and identifying details of people in your story can be changed in your finished book, and you may write under a pen name. These features help protect privacy but are aids, not guarantees; you control and are responsible for what appears in and what you do with your book. See our Terms of Service.
7. Data Retention and Deletion
We keep your account and story for as long as your account is active so you can return to your journey and your book. You may request deletion of your account and story content at any time by emailing support@rewriteyourstory.ai. We will delete it within a reasonable period, except for records we must keep for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention reasons (for example, proof of a transaction), and routine backups that cycle out over time.
8. Your Rights
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or export your personal information, and to object to certain processing. To exercise any right, email us. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. We do not sell personal information, so there is nothing to opt out of on that front.
9. Security
We use industry-standard measures — encryption in transit, access controls, and a locked vault — to protect your information. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
10. Children
The Service is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has used the Service, contact us and we will delete the information.
11. International Users
We operate in the United States, and your information is processed there. By using the Service you consent to that processing.
12. Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be posted here with a new date. Continued use means you accept the updated policy.
